Human Resources Generalist (Recruitment, On-boarding, HRIS) M-F 8:30am-5:00pm - Hybrid work schedule
Salary:
$28.84 - $31.25 per hour

SHIELDS' mission is to develop, deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles. Manages key human resources functions including full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and HRIS maintenance while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws. Responsibilities include sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates; coordinating with hiring managers; attending job fairs; building relationships with educational institutions; extending offers; and managing pre-employment documentation, background checks, and onboarding logistics. Oversees new hire orientation, equipment requests, reporting, and regulatory processes such as DOJ/FBI records, licensing, provider enrollments, and required internal and external reports. Contributes to policy development, departmental goals, continuous process improvement, and participates in administrative meetings to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required, along with dependability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance. The candidate must have working knowledge of human resources principles and practices, strong computer skills, required recruitment experience, and required experience using an HRIS system. A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field with 3-5 years of recruitment and HR Generalist level experience (non-profit recruiting preferred), 7 years of recruitment and HR generalist experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required, and PHR certification is preferred.
