5 % King County Premium Pay will be added to the final salary Serves as a subject matter expert in Benefits, delivering strategic guidance and responsive, high-quality service to employees and leadership. Provides expert consultation on complex benefits and retirement matters, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting an inclusive, equitable workplace. Leads and mentors team members to deliver consistent, solutions-focused HR support.

Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, learning English as a second language, and Continuing Education students. Healthy Gators Committee Payroll and Business Office Department supervisors and managers External stakeholder including, but not limited to, Washington State Health Care Authority (PEBB HCA), State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), TIAA-CREF and other retirement vendors, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), legal representatives or agencies during benefits-related appeals or inquiries and external auditors or compliance bodies related to ACA, PEBB or retirement programs.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer and manage Washington State insurance and retirement programs for 800+ employees to include classified, exempt, faculty and hourly groups. Review and manage monthly eligibility reports to determine benefits and retirement eligibility for all faculty and staff. Lead annual PEBB open enrollment process and ensure compliance with external agencies, including PEBB, HCA, ACA, and SBCTC. Conduct in-depth planning sessions with prospective retirees; prepare supplemental retirement calculations for the State Board plan. Stay current on legal and regulatory changes; respond to appeals and legal information requests related to benefits. Maintain strong working relationships with external partners such as HCA, SBCTC, DRS, EAP, and internal stakeholders. Serve as a trusted resource for employees, providing timely, clear, and compassionate benefits support and communication. Create and maintain communication templates to ensure consistent, accurate messaging around benefits. Act as the college's primary contact for HCA, Wellness, andTIAA-CREF
programs. Lead FMLA, Shared Leave, and Unpaid Leave processes. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related discipline and/or equivalent relevant work experience. Progressively responsible professional-level benefit administration experience or a blend of human resources and payroll, including experience supporting or managing benefits or payroll administration. Knowledge and experience with both defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans; working knowledge of state pension plans such as the Teachers' Retirement Plan (TRS) and the Public Employees' Retirement Plan (PERS). Knowledge and familiarity with disability laws (Federal and State).Required Training:
