Payroll and HR Specialist GATOR Transportation & Energy Services is looking for an experienced Payroll and HR Specialist to take ownership of payroll processing, Paychex administration, employee records, onboarding, and day-to-day HR support. This position is best suited for someone who is independent, organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation, oilfield, and field-service environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on payroll experience, preferably with Paychex , and can manage weekly payroll deadlines without needing constant direction. This is not a basic data-entry payroll position. We need someone who can catch issues, communicate with managers, follow through, and help keep the company's payroll and HR process organized. Pay $52,000-$62,500 per year, based on experience The top end of the range is for someone who can independently own payroll and HR administration, not someone who needs trained from scratch. Responsibilities Process weekly payroll through Paychex Review employee timecards, hours, pay rates, deductions, PTO, per diem, overtime, and payroll changes Work directly with managers to resolve missing time, incorrect punches, pay issues, and payroll questions Enter and maintain employee information in Paychex Manage new hire setup, onboarding paperwork, employee changes, and terminations Maintain accurate employee files and payroll records Track direct deposit, tax forms, benefits, deductions, rate changes, and position changes Assist employees with payroll and basic HR questions Help manage benefits enrollment and employee benefit updates Assist with unemployment claims, workers' compensation paperwork, employment verifications, and HR documentation Prepare payroll reports and provide information to management as needed Help improve payroll and HR processes as the company continues to grow Maintain confidentiality with all employee, payroll, and company information Requirements Payroll experience required Ability to process payroll independently Paychex experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of timecards, overtime, deductions, payroll changes, and payroll deadlines Experience working with hourly employees Strong attention to detail and follow-through Comfortable communicating with employees, managers, and ownership Ability to work with confidential information Strong computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and payroll systems HR, onboarding, benefits, or employee record experience preferred Experience in trucking, oilfield, construction, field service, or another fast-paced hourly workforce environment is a plus Schedule Full-time Monday through Friday Occasional additional hours may be required during payroll deadlines or special projects Benefits Health, dental, and vision benefits available Paid time off Consistent schedule Opportunity to grow with the company Team-oriented work environment What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that payroll has to be right.
