PCAND.org We are looking for someone who is purpose-driven, highly organized and passionate about our work, who works collaboratively, is self-directed and detail-oriented, flexible, and of course a great multi-tasker. With direction from the Director of Prevention Initiatives, the Prevention Specialist will providing education and collaboration that advances awareness and prevention of child sexual abuse by working with various entities located within McKenzie County North Dakota. The Prevention Specialist will also support the work of the Director of Prevention Initiatives and various subcommittees to expand the Handle with Care program. Handle with Care is a school-community partnership program that enables local police to notify school districts when they encounter a child at a traumatic scene, so the school staff and mental healthcare providers can provide urgent support for the student. JOB PURPOSE
The Prevention Specialist position will be assisting the Director of Prevention Initiatives in providing education and collaboration that advances awareness and prevention of child sexual abuse by working with various entities located within Mckenzie County North Dakota. The Prevention Specialist will also support the work of the Director of Prevention Initiatives and various subcommittees to expand the Handle with Care program. Handle with Care is a school-community partnership program that enables local police to notify school districts when they encounter a child at a traumatic scene, so the school staff and mental healthcare providers can provide urgent support for the student.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Education:
Provides public outreach and education on issues related to child sexual abuse and Handle with Care. Presents education in various settings, including classrooms, community events, organizational training (external), workshops, etc. Presents customized presentations, as applicable. Collaborates in the planning and organizing of public awareness campaigns with the Director of Prevention Initiatives. Develops and distributes educational materials, promotional materials, and other educational materials, approved by the Director of Prevention Initiatives.COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Collaborates with community partners to promote and strengthen public education efforts. Represents FFND and disseminates information, on prevention at education-related events and group meetings in the community and outreach events. Nurtures existing relationships, build and create new relationships with community partners, schools districts, law enforcement and other stakeholders. Collaborate in identifying barriers and developing plans to effectively serve marginalized sectors of the community. Assist with social media and online community engagement as needed Other duties as assignedSKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF TOP CANDIDATES
Located in McKenzie County North Dakota (required) Bachelor's degree in education or human services related field and/or 3 years experience in prevention or education (required) Previous experience training groups, conversations and discussions as a facilitator (preferred) Clear understanding of Primary Prevention. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups (both children & adults), and the measurement of training effects. Ability to adapt training materials to meet the needs of the learners and various learning styles in the room while maintaining fidelity. Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, ethnicity, cultures, and their history.
