Employee Relations Representative Great Lakes Dredge & Dock - 3.6 Dallas, TX Job Details Full-time 1 hour ago Benefits Profit sharing Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Bachelor's degree Staff training Full Job Description Employee Relations Representative The Opportunity The Employee Relations Representative provides a variety of support with human resource processes within Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. The position is located in our Houston, TX corporate headquarters. This role is heavily focused on employee relations and provides support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, employee incident engagement, and special projects to support HR operations. Key outcomes include conducting timely, well-documented workplace investigations; advising leaders on employee relations and compliance; and supporting employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, leave/accommodations, exits, and HRIS records). About the Company Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States. In addition, Great Lakes is fully engaged in expanding its core business into the rapidly developing offshore wind energy industry. The Company has a long history of performing significant international projects. The Company employs experienced civil, ocean and mechanical engineering staff in its estimating, production and project management functions. In its over 136-year history, the Company has never failed to complete a marine project. Great Lakes owns and operates the largest and most diverse fleet in the U.S. dredging industry, comprised of approximately 200 specialized vessels. Great Lakes has a disciplined training program for engineers that ensures experienced-based performance as they advance through Company operations. The Company's commitment to the IIF® culture promotes a work environment where employee safety is paramount. Responsibilities Resolve employee concerns and complaints regarding work-related issues. Perform workplace investigations and provide counseling and advice to employees and managers regarding employment issues. Partner with management on employee disciplinary actions, misconduct, conflict, and grievance resolution. Provide advice and guidance to management on employee relations policies and procedures. Identify legal risks and ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations related to employee relations. Coordinate with the HR team to administer and support onboarding by providing orientation on company policies and procedures. Administer employee personal leave and accommodation requests. Conduct employee exit interviews and identify areas of concern to improve the work environment and reduce turnover. Maintain termination records and enter terminations into the
ADP HRIS
system. Respond to unemployment claims. Compile and analyze employee headcount and demographics for reporting. Assist in evaluating reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals, and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency. Assist in labor relations disputes and grievances and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Travel to project sites as needed for investigations and to provide training on company policies. Provide HR support to project sites and vessels. Support various HR projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field required. Minimum 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience, including 3 years focused on staff welfare and employee relations. Working knowledge of EEO compliance, including ADA, ADEA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and related laws. Working knowledge of FMLA administration and the reasonable accommodation process under the ADA. Demonstrated experience leading, documenting, and concluding investigations in a timely manner. Demonstrated experience investigating employee complaints and ensuring thoroughness and adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Demonstrated experience presenting to groups and training employees on company policies. Demonstrated ability to facilitate resolution meetings and mediate disputes, promoting fair and equitable outcomes. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel; PowerPoint a plus). Experience with
ADP HRIS
preferred. Initiative, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently and within a team while managing multiple priorities. Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive employee information. Flexible and able to execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations at all levels of the organization.
