This multifaceted role combines core accounting responsibilities with HR support functions, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to both financial management and personnel administration. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in corporate and restaruant accounting, along with excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position is vital in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective human resources operations, all within a vibrant and growth-oriented environment. Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting processes including ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Excel, and Toast Payroll. Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow analyses to maintain accurate financial records. Prepare regulatory reports and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, and governmental accounting standards. Support internal audits by providing detailed financial data and documentation; assist with external audits as needed. Handle payroll processing, tax filings, and related reporting to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Assist in budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, and financial report writing to support strategic decision-making. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while mentoring junior team members in technical accounting practices and best practices in financial management. Support HR functions including maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding processes, and managing benefits administration. Experience Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts. Demonstrated expertise with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms. Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements, LIHTC programs, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger management. Experience with financial report interpretation and writing detailed financial reports for diverse audiences. Ability to perform bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting and financial statement preparation accurately. Prior experience supporting internal or external audits; understanding of securities law or regulatory reporting is a plus. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with other financial software tools; ability to analyze complex data sets efficiently. Effective mentoring skills with a focus on developing team capabilities in technical accounting areas.
