Summary/objective:
The People & Culture Business Partner serves as a strategic partner and operational resource for leaders and Team Members across Angel Studios. This role is responsible for supporting the full scope of day-to-day HR operations — including full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, compliance with HR laws and regulations, and team member relations — while also contributing to the bigger-picture people strategies that keep Angel Studios a thriving, mission-driven workplace. The People and Culture Business Partner works closely with other members of the People & Culture team in a cross-functional capacity, owning both the behind-the-scenes logistics of HR compliance and the front-facing support that helps our teams do their best work. Team up with the People and Culture squad — Work side-by-side with the team to create and execute people strategies that align with our mission. Keep us legally savvy without the snooze — Stay on top of employment laws and compliance so we operate with excellence while keeping things people-focused. Make work fun and fulfilling — Help create experiences that keep Team Members motivated, engaged, and excited to be part of Angel. Juggle all things people-related — Manage employment records, benefits, payroll changes, and HR logistics. Help leadership turn vision into action — Support leaders and Team Members with insights and strategies to lead with confidence. Think ahead & solve problems before they happen — Be proactive in spotting challenges, finding solutions, and constantly improving how we care for our team. Must attend and contribute to regularly scheduled staff meetings. Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in the English language required. Additional language proficiency is a plus. Decision-Maker with a Purpose — You're comfortable making decisions about compensation mapping, job leveling, and pay equity analysis, with hands-on experience benchmarking roles against market data (e.g., Radford, Mercer, or similar). You always connect those decisions to the bigger picture of attracting and retaining great talent. Problem Solver & Job Satisfaction Guru — You have a knack for resolving issues quickly and enhancing job satisfaction with accuracy and care. HR Compliance Guru — Keeping Angel Studios compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws is second nature to you. You're well-versed in FLSA classifications, I-9/E-Verify requirements, EEO reporting, and multi-state compliance. You proactively spot gaps and fix them before they become problems. People-Focused — Proactive in recommending strategies to keep Team Members motivated and engaged. Data-Driven Dynamo — You produce, audit, and submit reports on HR activities — benefits, 401(k), analytics, payroll, and more. Support Champion — From leave management to compensation inquiries, you help Team Members navigate all things HR. Policy & Systems Pro — You contribute to People and Culture policies, systems, and contracts that empower the team. Communication Master — You ensure smooth communication with all stakeholders and know when to escalate complex issues. Always Learning — You value professional growth, actively participate in coaching sessions, and help keep the team on track. Work environment - When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy. Physical demands Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 15-20 lbs occasionally Position type and expected hours of work - Regular full-time, 40 hours per week.
Core hours:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (occasional flexibility may be needed) Travel required - Not typically required beyond local errands or meetings Required education and experience At least 4 years of human resource experience Working knowledge of federal and state employment law compliance, including FLSA, EEO, and leave regulations (FMLA, ADA, etc.) Previous experience with HRIS and ATS systems Demonstrated experience with compensation analysis, including salary benchmarking, job architecture, or pay equity review Preferred education and experience Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field HR-related certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) Experience with the Angel Guild Work authorization - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
