Job Description

Job Description The Public Safety Staffing Specialist is an integral part of the Professional Standards Section (PSS). PSS is responsible for many critical functions to include background investigations for hiring new employees. The Public Safety Staffing Specialist role is responsible for viewing criminal, medical, psychological, polygraph examination, and motor vehicle reports and results to determine suitability for employment. Additionally, this position requests and reviews documentation from local, state and federal government regarding birth, citizenship, military history, and certifications required by a position. Essential Duties Screens, tests, interviews, and processes applicants for the Sheriff's Office positions; makes hiring recommendations; and assists in the development and administration of promotional testing Maintains confidential files Identifies recruiting needs and research target areas Procures items for recruitment purposes, arranges travel, travels locally and out of state Performs basic office duties such as copying, filing and faxing Creates and produces various correspondence, routine and complex reports, and other documents as needed/requested Performs other duties of a similar nature or level Public Speaking Duties Speakes before large groups Communicates with coworkers, supervisors, and the public, ensuring clear exchange of information and the ability to understand and follow work instructions Other Job Requirements/Information Public safety background check to include credit check, motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and fingerprinting. May require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays. Grade The grade for this position is B22(1). Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, or
G.E.D. AND
Two years of administrative support or related office experience, including experience delivering customer service and using computer software Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above Valid Driver's License Notary Public within 6 months of hire
GCIC/NCIC
