General Summary of Position:
This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees with the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position. The Sr. Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing strategic recruitment and yield initiatives to attract and enroll students in assigned graduate programs. This role involves representing the university at recruitment events, college fairs, and information sessions (in-person and virtual), as well as organizing webinars and targeted outreach campaigns to engage prospective students throughout the recruitment, admissions, and matriculation process. It leverages data and enrollment trends to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, improve yield outcomes, and ensure enrollment goals are met. The role emphasizes creating a positive and personalized candidate experience while expanding access for diverse student populations, including international, domestic, and non-traditional learners. Collaboration is central to this position: the incumbent partners with admissions staff in application evaluation, works with the marketing team and academic departments to design and refine program-specific marketing materials, and engages with faculty, the Corporate Partnership, international regional recruitment, student success teams to build strong pipelines with employers and enhance graduate opportunities. This role may also include supervising recruitment staff or graduate assistants to ensure high-quality and consistent outreach efforts.
Essential Duties:
Sr.
Assistant Director Strategic Enrollment and Outreach:
Serve as the primary contact for prospective applicants in assigned degree programs throughout the first enrollment at GPS. Support the Assistant Dean of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions in developing enrollment goals and develop strategic enrollment plans. Build effective strategies and tactics for the recruitment and yield activities of domestic and international students as well as underrepresented students. Execute effective recruitment and yield strategies and tactics including but not limited to college fairs, department events, webinars, corporate site visits. The overall goal of travel is to increase the visibility of UMass Lowell and recruit students that will help the University meet its graduate program enrollment goals. Identify effective recruitment venues to recruit targeted prospective students (domestic and international) in the assigned programs. Collaborate with Corporate Partnership team to recruit students from partner organizations. Manage and be the first point of contact to prospective students for the assigned degree programs. Develop effective outbound communication campaigns to proactively answer prospective students' questions and participate in increasing the application pools as well as enrollments. Keep an in-depth knowledge of the programs portfolio. Additionally, the incumbent must be able to speak to all aspects of UMass Lowell and the university's academic offering. Offer recruitment support to other programs as needed.
Data Driven Enrollment Management:
Use analytics to monitor enrollment trends, identify opportunities, and evaluate the impact of recruitment activities. Develop reports and recommendations for leadership to inform resource allocation and strategic planning. Adjust strategies based on data to optimize conversion from inquiry to enrollment.
Admissions Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with the Admissions Operations to provide timely support to graduate applicants in completing their applications. Work with the faculty and with the Admissions Operations to release timely decisions. Monitor admissions progress and recommend improvements to enhance yield.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnerships:
Lead cross-departmental collaboration with marketing, academic programs, faculty, career services, and alumni relations. Shape messaging and outreach strategies to highlight program quality, research strengths, and student outcomes. Partner with our in country representatives to strengthen recruitment pipelines abroad. Work with International Students and Scholars Office, Financial Aid Office, Student Success teams to ensure warm hand off's and timely release of decisions and documents to students.
Supervision and Leadership:
Supervise and mentor recruitment staff, graduate assistants, or interns. Provide professional development opportunities for junior staff and ensure high-quality execution of recruitment initiatives.

This is a full-time, benefited and SEIU Professional union position in grade P17 . Anticipated salary based on grade minimum: $65,693, 25th quartile: $74,725 and midpoint of $83,758.
