Job Description

The Department of Orientation and First Year Experience (FYE) at Brandeis is responsible for the creation, planning, and implementation of New Student Orientation in August and January, as well as creating a robust calendar of programming for new students throughout their first year at Brandeis. The department collaborates with campus partners to co-host events that are geared towards new students. In addition, we promote existing campus events, opportunities and resources to students during their first year at Brandeis. This is a part time, temporary position through the beginning of September. It will be 25 hours a week. The rate is $25/hour. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the department head, the Orientation Assistant will support the following: Coordination of the University's Fall Orientation programs (New Student and Transfer) Work with campus partners and external vendors to arrange logistics such as room reservations, room setups, furniture rentals, catering, A/V, entertainment for events, etc Tracking participation of virtual summer Orientation program for new students Collaboration with campus departments to schedule their participation in Orientation Inventory and organization of all Orientations supplies Pre-Orientation programs Assist with the logistics and implementation of 8 Pre-Orientation programs Oversee student application and selection process Work directly with Pre-Orientation Directors from each program • Planning and implementation of Orientation Leader Training Arrange logistics for all OL Training sessions Collaboration with campus departments to schedule their participation in OL Training Partner with International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) and Department of Community Living (DCL) to coordinate student leader trainings Assist with content creation and/or present at training Oversight of 3 Orientation Core Committee members and 50 Orientation Leaders Orientation Core Committee members work from June-August and Orientation Leaders work for 1.5 weeks in August Recruit and oversee a team of 50 move-in crew students. Assist with the day-to-day operations of all Orientation programs Other duties as assigned The ideal candidate will have Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with presentations and group facilitation Commitment to co-curricular opportunities for education Experience working with Orientation programs and college-aged students Flexibility and willingness to work both weekend and evening hours Pay Range Disclosure The University's pay ranges represent a good faith estimate of what Brandeis reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting.
