St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college-preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. Position Summary The BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) Recruitment and Hiring Specialist is an exciting position in support of SPA's DEI Strategic Plan to develop and implement strategic faculty recruiting programs. This position has a significant external component focused on outreach, building relationships with regional colleges and universities, and developing a regional network of educators and professionals who know SPA. In this work, this position will collaborate closely with the Director of Intercultural Life and the Assistant Head of School for Academic Programs. The position will focus on the recruitment and retention of BIPOC employees, and the hiring and onboarding process for all employees. The BIPOC Recruitment and Retention Specialist will report to the Human Resources Director. The BIPOC Recruitment and Retention Specialist will support SPA's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as part of the DEIB strategic plan to recruit and hire a diverse faculty and staff. The successful candidate will be a creative self-starter who can take initiative, responds flexibly to the needs of the position, and is receptive and responsive to feedback and will be an integral part of the community across all divisions. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and be eager to join a fast-paced professional community in which collaboration is valued and professional growth is the norm.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Retention Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies for BIPOC teachers, including regional and national travel to colleges and universities and teacher job fairs to recruit BIPOC teacher candidates. Develop and maintain relationships with a network of regional educators and professionals who understand independent school teaching and SPA in particular. Organize and host open houses for local BIPOC educators and professionals to learn more about SPA. Work with the Director of Communications to develop and update teacher recruitment materials and employment content for SPA's website. Collaborate with the Office of Intercultural Life on strategic initiatives for DEIB recruitment. Post all open positions on a variety of websites, including those targeted to recruiting BIPOC candidates. Perform general recruiting and recruitment planning, as needed. Manage the recruitment database. Oversee current partnerships to build pathways of recruitment and retention. Develop community-building events and assist with BIPOC retreats HR Generalist Responsibilities Oversee, in consultation with others, the hiring practices, guidelines, policies and protocols for all employees; develop hiring procedures for non-faculty hiring and adhere to the process. Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. Provide training to hiring committees and search committee members on strategies to support diversity and inclusion in hiring. Onboard employees through the human resources applicant tracking system.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Experience in educational institutions and particularly independent schools is preferred. Three to five years in a recruitment position is preferred as well as human resources or other administrative skills/experience. SHRM certification preferred. A collaborative style and approachable demeanor, and demonstrated ability to establish rapport and trusting relationships with people from diverse identities and cultural backgrounds. Effective cross-cultural communication skills. Able to operate effectively in diverse environments and interact successfully with people from widely varying backgrounds. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to interact with employees at all levels in a friendly and professional manner Ability to travel, as needed, including a number of overnight trips. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in collaboration with individuals and teams. Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making and develop and implement plans in an organized and timely manner. Knowledge of recruitment best practices, social media outreach practices on multiple platforms and automated applicant tracking systems and human resources information systems.
