Job Description
A little honesty before you apply. Recruiting is hard, and agency recruiting especially so, particularly early on. It takes a lot of grit and persistence, plus a high tolerance for picking up the phone over and over, and plenty of smart people find it isn't for them. We mention it up front because the people who do well here tend to be the ones who hear that and get more interested, not less. For the right person, though, it's also one of the most lucrative and rewarding careers around. There's no cap on what you can earn, you own your work, and you get to change people's careers for a living. If that excites you more than it scares you, keep reading. About Bloomfield & Company We're an award-winning boutique recruiting firm built on a client-first, high-touch model. Since 1994, we've placed exceptional talent for top corporations, nonprofits, and family offices across the country. We're small on purpose, so you get genuine mentorship and a lot of responsibility early on. The team is tight-knit, works hard, and has a good sense of humor about the rest. What You'll Do This is high-activity, phone-first work. Day to day, you will: Spend a big part of your day on the phone, including cold calls, sourcing and engaging candidates across phone, LinkedIn, and email.
Run the full recruiting life-cycle:
first conversation, in-depth interviews, candidate coaching, reference checks, and placement. Write sharp outreach that gets people to pick up and respond. Have the hard conversations, like rejecting candidates and delivering tough news, with honesty and tact. Keep meticulous records in our ATS so nothing falls through the cracks. Build a network of referral sources and passive candidates that gets stronger over time. Be realistic about the hours, too. A standard 40-hour week probably won't get you where you want to go, especially early on. Who You Are Tenacious. A rejection or a dead-end call doesn't rattle you. You make the next one. Outgoing and a natural connector. You like talking to new people all day, and the phone gives you energy instead of taking it. Sales-oriented. You've sold something, hit a number, or owned an outreach goal, and you liked the chase. At ease with anyone. Most of your day is candidate-facing, and you're as comfortable talking to a C-suite executive as you are with a front-desk receptionist. Someone who genuinely cares. You want to get it right for the candidates and clients who trust you, not just close the placement and move on. Comfortable with technology. You pick up new systems fast and aren't thrown by new tools. We use a lot of them, and we're always adding more. Quick to laugh. A sense of humor goes a long way on a hard day, and on our team. In it to build a career, not to fill a gap between jobs. About Your Background Agency recruiting experience is a plus but isn't required. What we're really after is sales instinct and people skills. Some of our best hires came from outside recruiting entirely. One of our standout recruiters ran an Orange Theory studio, calling leads, following up with prospects, and re-engaging members who'd canceled. If you've done work like that, high-volume outreach with a number attached, you probably already know whether you'd be good at this. A degree in any discipline is preferred, but your drive matters most. What You'll Get Uncapped income. Competitive base plus commission, with earnings that grow as you do. Mostly remote. Work from home most of the time, with some availability to meet in person, including hands-on training early on. This only works if you're honest with yourself about your discipline and your ability to stay productive without an office around you. Benefits. Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match. Perks. Monthly cell phone subsidy, generous time off, and professional development. Mentorship. A small, experienced team (11-year average tenure) that's invested in your growth.
