Job Description:
Part-Time Orientation Leader
Campus Location:
Lynn/Danvers
Work Schedule:
10-15 hours a week during Spring/Fall Terms, 15-20 hours a week during Summer/Winter Breaks
SALARY:
$17.30/hr. At this time, the College is not providing sponsorships for Visas.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
As an Orientation Leader, you are the face of North Shore Community College for our newest students and serve as a key information source for incoming students . You will work as part of a dynamic team to guide incoming students through their transition to college life and will present information on a variety of topics at live in-person & virtual events, in-person tours and assist students in attendance with their questions/concerns about their upcoming experience at NSCC. Orientation Leaders will participate in training activities on a variety of topics such as: campus services, presentation styles, orientation best practices, how to engage in a variety of environments and more. The Orientation Leader Team will also take turns assisting in registration/on-boarding related activities to provide event logistical support within the virtual platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a resource for incoming students. Facilitate small group discussions and activities to help new students connect with each other and the college community. Lead in-person campus tours at both the Danvers and Lynn campuses, as needed/requested. Develop and facilitate engaging presentations for New Student Orientation, both in-person and virtually. Reach out to new students via phone and text to invite them to campus and help them navigate the NSCC experience.. Provide peer-focused support for registration and on-boarding related activities. Participate in all required Orientation Leader training sessions and meetings. Collaborate with various campus departments as needed. Be available to serve for the vast majority of Winter/Summer Break in preparation for and execution of new student Orientation and related programs. Serve as a student assistant in an Student and Academic Success area/related events during the Fall/Spring semesters. Ability to participate and attend all new student orientation days during late summer break and winter breaks.
Requirements:
Must be a current student or recent graduate (within the past 3 years) of North Shore Community College. Must be able to work physically on campus in Lynn and/or Danvers campuses. Be able to occasionally work remotely with access to reliable internet for regular video conference activities. Be enthusiastic, driven, creative, and friendly Have a desire to prepare incoming students with useful knowledge for them to succeed. Work well with in a team environment Must be in good academic and student conduct standing with the College. Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
