; DEAN (BL-ARSD-IUBLA) Department Information The College of Arts and Sciences Recruiting Office collaborates with the College of Arts and Science's Executive Dean, senior College leadership, faculty and staff, and current students and alumni, as well as a wide array of other campus partners, to develop and implement strategies for attracting students to the College's programs of study. The College's paramount goal is to recruit students who are academically outstanding. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at Indiana University, Bloomington. It is composed of 40 plus departments, 50 plus Centers, Programs, and Institutes, while also including the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design, the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, and The Media School. Faculty in the College teach over 50% of the Indiana University (Bloomington) credit hours and the College occupies about 1.3 million square feet of space in 80+ buildings on the Bloomington campus. Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of on-campus recruitment events, including signature programs such as College Preview Weekends and spring Red Carpet Days, ensuring alignment with College enrollment goals. Oversees the ongoing development, review, and updating of weekly on-campus information session materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a compelling prospective student experience. Manages event logistics in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and student ambassadors, to deliver high-quality, large-scale and targeted visit experiences. Evaluates the effectiveness of on-campus programming and implements data-informed improvements to enhance engagement and yield outcomes. Supports operational functions of the recruiting team, including monitoring and responding to the shared inbox to ensure timely, accurate communication with prospective students and families. Coordinates individualized visit experiences by facilitating 1:1 meetings between prospective students and appropriate faculty, staff, or student ambassadors based on academic and co-curricular interests. Develops and maintains processes to streamline event operations and visit coordination, improving efficiency and service delivery across the team. Serves as a key point of contact for on-campus visit experiences, ensuring a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions. General Responsibilities Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment. Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals. Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors. Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers. Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment. Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations. Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models. May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors, particularly regarding recruitment schedules and objectives for recruitment staff in a given region. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
