Job Description

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is seeking an Employer Engagement Manager to lead and coordinate strategic employer partnerships that expand career-connected opportunities for students. This role focuses on building and sustaining relationships with industry partners to support internships, work-based learning, and post-graduation employment, with an initial emphasis on supporting First-Generation Students. The position plays a key role in strengthening high school-to-college-to-career pathways, and early college students by aligning employer needs with student interests and academic programs, particularly in financial services, skilled trades, and healthcare. The Employer Engagement Manager reports to the Director of Career Services and works collaboratively across Career Services, SLCC Workforce Services, the Development Office/SLCC Foundation, and key academic areas, including the Gail Miller Business School, Salt Lake Technical College (Salt Lake Tech), and the School of Health Sciences (though not limited to these areas). This is not a fundraising role. Instead, it centers on employer engagement, partnership development, and aligning workforce needs with career development to advance equitable student outcomes and economic mobility. This position is a two-year, grant-funded temporary role, contingent upon continued funding. Develop and manage (and help coordinate existing)employer partnerships in the financial services, trades, and healthcare sectors that support student workforce pathways. Coordinate industry-supported opportunities such as internships, paid work experiences, apprenticeships, and early-career placements for students. Support the creation of workforce pipelines for students beginning at high school graduation, continuing during college enrollment, and extending into post-completion employment. Collaborate with SLCC Workforce Services, Career Services, and Salt Lake Tech to align employer needs with academic and technical programs. Nurture, secure, and sustain sponsored-tuition relationships with employer partners interested in hiring SLCC students and promoting incumbent employees within their organization. Assist with the coordination of employer engagement teams and cross-functional meetings focused on strengthening a coordinated approach to intra-organizational employer partner relationship development and management. Assist with tracking and organizing employer partnership data to support continuity, accountability, and long-term collaboration. Contribute to data-informed planning related to workforce outcomes, student placement, and partnership effectiveness. Serve as an external-facing representative of SLCC in conversations with employers and industry partners. Support the development of scalable partnership models that can be expanded across sectors and campuses. This person must be self-motivated and great with data and technology Experience supporting first-generation, low- to moderate-income, or historically underserved student populations. Experience coordinating cross-sector partnerships involving education and industry. Experience with data Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Bachelors Degree 2-5 years of experience Masters Degree Experience collaborating with colleges and/or technical programs
