AQ Job Summary The Director of Teaching and Learning will serve as the college's leader for organizing and delivering college-wide professional development to all faculty (regular faculty, adjunct faculty and HS concurrent instructors) on instructional strategies and pedagogy. This position will facilitate and plan the delivery of professional development on assigned college professional days for faculty. Oversee the revisions and implementation of the Quality Faculty Plan. Essential Functions Lead the design and continuous improvement of a cohesive, college-wide faculty development system supporting new hire, adjunct, and full-time faculty ongoing professional growth through onboarding, professional learning, and evaluation structures. Use faculty feedback and participation data to continuously refine systems so they remain integrated, accessible, and responsive to institutional priorities. Optimize the use of student learning and course success data to drive continuous instructional improvement. Collaborate with Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness to translate data into actionable insights, identify trends, and support targeted strategies such as course redesign, assessment enhancements, and focused professional learning. Manage the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Faculty Plan as the core system for faculty growth. Facilitate committee work and processes, support faculty and supervisors, and ensure alignment with institutional goals while using feedback and data to enhance clarity, flexibility, and effectiveness. Lead the design and delivery of practical, evidence-based professional learning, including college-wide events (including professional development days) and ongoing programming across campuses and modalities. Prioritize applied, sustained learning that enables faculty to develop materials and refine instruction. Enhance the development and organization of instructional resources, maintaining a centralized, accessible repository of tools, templates, and guidance. Evaluate and promote innovative, evidence-based practices, supporting faculty in adopting approaches aligned with student learning outcomes. Collaborate district-wide and across departments to support teaching and learning. Build partnerships with deans, chairs, and faculty, to provide practical, context-specific consultation to address instructional challenges and promote shared ownership. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to contributing to accreditation efforts, supporting strategic projects, and responding to emerging needs. Required Qualifications Master's Degree. Five years of experience in an educational setting or training in a professional development setting. Experience must include exemplary evidence as a teaching/instructor. Completion of a teacher education, development, or training program. Experience with a variety of training/instructional modalities including online. Experience in planning and conducting professional development in the areas of teaching and learning. Experience in data analysis and decision-making. Record of using interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups. Ability to be a collaborator and a convener, to work judiciously and diplomatically, with the capacity to build bridges and consensus. Knowledge of current software applications. Strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds. Desired Qualifications Doctorate in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development or related area. Experience in faculty/instructional development in a higher education setting. Successful record of experience in leadership working collaboratively with stakeholders to advance initiatives.
