Job Description

The Director of Adult and Community Services is a visionary and operational leader responsible for the strategic direction, administration, and growth of the Center for Adult and Community Services. This role oversees a complex ecosystem of tuition-based workforce training and grant-funded adult literacy programs serving over 3,500 students annually across Westchester County. The Director ensures that all programming, ranging from skilled trades and healthcare to High School Equivalency (HSE) and ESL and to school-age educational programs in an incarcerated setting, remains high-quality and financially sustainable. By fostering partnerships with industry leaders, community organizations, and government agencies, the Director positions SWBOCES as the premier hub for adult empowerment and regional workforce development.
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the mission of providing high-quality education and workforce entry and career-change training for adult learners. Responsibly manage multiple fiscal resources to support programs. Manage complex funding streams, including tuition revenue, formula-based contracts, and state/federal grants (EPE, WIOA, Title II). Optimize tuition-based models, ensuring course costs are balanced against program length and materials while maintaining a minimum enrollment threshold for fiscal responsibility. Cultivate relationships with key funding partners. Lead a diverse team of supervisors, coordinators, support staff, as well as certified teachers in an incarcerated setting.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess
New York State District Administrative Certification:
SDA, SDL.
Experience leading and supervising state and federally funded Adult Literacy and Continuing Education programs. Prior administrative experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of the components of rigorous and high-quality workforce development and training programs. Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent writing and public speaking skills. Experience observing and evaluating staff to support and increase student achievement. Documented experience in building strong professional relationships with school districts and local business, economic and workforce development agencies.
