Grounded in the Catholic tradition, we offer access to educational, occupational, psychosocial, and spiritual resources, walking alongside women as they work toward independence and flourishing. As we grow our impact, we are launching an initiative to help residents transition to long-term, sustainable employment in high-demand fields such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and union trades. Position Summary Joseph's House is seeking a visionary and mission-aligned Director of Workforce Development to lead the design, development, and implementation of a career pathway program for our residents. This new role will be instrumental in building strategic partnerships, designing individualized employment plans, and coordinating job training and placement opportunities that align with the unique needs and life stages of our residents. Key Responsibilities Program Design and Strategy
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive workforce development strategy aligned with Joseph's House mission and values.
  • Build a tiered career pathway program with options in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and union trades.
  • Create a framework that accommodates the varied schedules, skills, and support needs of pregnant and parenting women. Partnership and Ecosystem Building
  • Establish partnerships with local employers, labor unions, vocational schools, community colleges, community organizations and workforce boards.
  • Develop relationships with healthcare and manufacturing training programs, apprenticeship coordinators, and local trade unions to secure slots for residents. Resident Support and Case Integration
  • Work alongside Resident Navigators and other program staff to incorporate career goals into residents' individualized service plans.
  • Oversee or facilitate job readiness training, including resume building, interviewing skills, and financial literacy.
  • With Resident Navigators, ensure residents have access to transportation, childcare, and other resources that remove barriers to employment. Program Evaluation and Sustainability
  • Track and report on program outcomes such as enrollment, certifications, job placements, retention, and earnings.
  • Prepare reports and grant materials to support ongoing funding and program development.
  • Identify opportunities to scale the workforce initiative to former residents and community clients. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, workforce development, education, public administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in workforce development, career coaching, or program management, ideally serving vulnerable or underserved populations.
  • Knowledge of regional labor market trends and training opportunities in healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades.
  • Strong communication and partnership-building skills with experience working across public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of women in crisis or transition, and commitment to a life-affirming, trauma-informed approach.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Joseph's House for Women. Preferred Skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
  • Experience navigating unionized training environments or apprenticeship programs.
  • Familiarity with supportive housing, TANF/Medicaid policies, or workforce funding mechanisms. Compensation & Benefits
