Full-time; Monday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm with some flexibility required 314 SW 9th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205 New Avenues for Youth is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial leader to oversee and advance our integrated youth workforce, education, and social enterprise initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to drive both mission impact and earned revenue in a dynamic, values-driven organization.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience in workforce development, social enterprise, business operations, or related fields
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with a track record of driving revenue and sustainability
  • Entrepreneurial, results-oriented mindset with a track record of identifying opportunities, driving innovation, and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Experience managing complex programs, contracts, and budgets
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams and leaders
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to translate data into action
  • Commitment to equity and experience working with diverse communities
  • Advanced degree (MBA or related) and experience with workforce systems and/or social enterprise preferred
What You'll Do:
The Senior Director provides strategic leadership across workforce development, education programs, and social enterprises. This role is accountable for both program outcomes and enterprise performance, including revenue growth, financial sustainability, and alignment between workforce programming and employment pathways. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this leader will build on existing program and enterprise strengths, working in close partnership with internal leaders to strengthen and evolve an integrated model that drives measurable impact and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategy and implementation of integrated workforce, education, and enterprise initiatives Drive enterprise performance, including revenue growth, financial sustainability, and long-term viability, in partnership with enterprise leadership Partner with program and enterprise leaders to strengthen models, operations, and outcomes Oversee budgets, contracts, and performance metrics across a complex portfolio Supervise and support senior leaders, fostering accountability, innovation, and growth Build partnerships with employers, funders, and public agencies Represent New Avenues in workforce systems and community initiatives
