Tactical Trainer Tactical Trainer - Trackless Mobile Infantry Target (TMIT) North Camp Pendleton (Talega Area)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Tactical Trainer supports the Site Lead and Senior Tactical Trainer in the execution of all operational, quality, environmental, and security aspects of TMIT site and training operations. The Tactical Trainer assists with training event preparation and execution, performs equipment troubleshooting and resupply during exercises, and ensures all TMIT systems meet quality control standards and are ready to support training events. The Tactical Trainer prepares, deploys, operates, and recovers TMIT systems during training activities while ensuring equipment accountability, operational readiness, and safe employment of the system during live-fire training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Site Lead and Senior Tactical Trainer in the execution of TMIT operations at the assigned location and during deployed training events, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and established procedures. Prepare, coordinate, and execute support to TMIT training events in accordance with direction from the Site Lead, including setup and operation of HEKTR robotic target systems during live-fire training. Conduct pre-operation inspections of vehicles, trailers, and HEKTR systems, perform first-echelon maintenance, and ensure all equipment is configured and operational prior to training execution. Provides the After-Action Review (AAR) for the training event. Provide data management for all AAR activities. Monitor system performance and report operational status to the Site Lead in accordance with established quality procedures. Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance and conduct troubleshooting of equipment and systems in accordance with standard operating procedures. Support safe and effective execution of training activities by providing operational expertise on system employment and assisting training units in maximizing the value of the TMIT system. Support site safety and security requirements and ensure health and safety procedures are followed in accordance with applicable regulations and site policies. Assist with maintaining current site work instructions and share best practices to support continuous improvement within the team.
EDUCATION
High school diploma. Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.
EXPERIENCE
Former 03XX E-6 or above 8+ years of Fleet Marine Force operational experience preferred. Understanding of USMC combined arms tactics; tactics, techniques, and procedures Experience with simulator systems or tracked/wheeled robotic systems preferred. Familiarity with Marine Corps training development processes including Instructional Systems Design and the Systems Approach to Training and Education. Understanding of range operations, exercise design, and training scenario development.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Joint operational command level. Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and / or Point. Experience in Instructor Development, Curriculum development, and exercise design to all areas of the TMIT program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Field and overnight training required. Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus. Prolonged outdoor exposure to the elements. Work in inclement temperatures from 100+ degrees in a low elevation desert climate to negative 25 degrees in a high elevation (6,500- 10,000 feet) mountainous environment. Routine heavy lifting (50 lbs. maximum). Daily driving in the training areas with poor driving conditions due to rugged terrain, weather, and range debris. Must be able to drive a . ton truck with 25 ft trailer.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
Occasional travel CONUS and OCONUS may be required Passport required. Able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) or Defense Biometric Identification Systems (DBIDS) access to military installations. Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
