Job Description

The Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe is dedicated to inspiring and enabling all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. As a Sports & Recreation Youth Development Professional, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging athletic and recreational programs for youth in grades K-6. Working under the guidance of the Truckee Program Coordinator, you will help facilitate a variety of activities, including summer camps, mountain biking, kayaking, futsal, basketball, and more. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people while working in a supportive, energetic environment. Responsibilities Facilitate and support athletic and recreational programs, including summer day camps and sports camps (e.g., basketball, soccer, gym activities). Provide a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for youth to participate in sports and recreation. Supervise and engage groups of children in grades K-6, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Implement structured programming and maintain consistency in daily schedules and activities. Promote positive behavior and relationships among members, fostering respect and a sense of belonging. Accurately account for all youth checked into the Club and ensure proper supervision throughout their time at the facility. Adapt program plans as needed to meet the dynamic needs of the group and environment. Maintain and return equipment in good condition, and be responsible for assigned keys and radios. Travel within the North Lake Tahoe area as needed for programming. Arrive on time, dressed in uniform, and ready to contribute to a positive Club atmosphere. Qualifications Experience working with youth in a recreational or educational setting. Ability to quickly build strong, positive relationships with children. Interest in a variety of youth programs and sports activities. Strong positive disciplinary skills and ability to maintain a structured environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions. Flexible, self-motivated, and dynamic approach to work. Ability to create and follow systems and procedures. Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for at least 3 hours, and participate in outdoor activities in various weather conditions. Ability to swim.
