Training & Technical Specialist

This is a professional and supervisory maintenance position, developing and delivers employee training programs and administers technical assistance as required by the maintenance section. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for implementing a comprehensive in-house maintenance educational/training program to improve employee skill performance at all levels. Duties also include technical assistance in the development of maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the safe, effective and efficient repair of the vehicle fleet and to ensure Palm Tran is compliant with all Federal and State regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and safety. These duties require the employee to exercise a high degree of independent judgment and initiative and are reviewed through conferences, reports, and measured results achieved. This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance. Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or university with major coursework in, Education, Industrial Technology or related field; plus, two (2) years of transit based maintenance experience and two (2) years instructional training experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger "P" endorsement. Previous supervisory experience. Previous mechanic experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Maintenance Software.
