Lab Instructor

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Technical Trades Instructor to lead a hybrid training program focused on preparing learners for entry-level technician roles across multiple trades. This position requires a well-rounded background in HVACR, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and fluid power systems. Instruction is delivered through a combination of virtual instructor-led training (VILT), self-paced modules, and in-person lab-based learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong field background, prior teaching or mentoring experience, and the ability to engage learners in real-world, hands-on technical education. Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging hybrid instruction covering core concepts in HVACR, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and basic construction.
• Facilitate learning through a mix of virtual sessions, self-paced modules, and hands-on lab experiences.
• Demonstrate and guide the safe use of hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and trade-specific equipment.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and support to learners with varying levels of trade experience.
• Promote and model a strong safety-first mindset throughout all instructional activities.
• Adapt training approaches to meet diverse learning styles and maintain high learner engagement.
• Maintain lab readiness by ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are in proper working condition.
• Collaborate with training coordinators and curriculum developers to align instruction with industry standards and program outcomes.

Education and Experience:

• 5+ years of field experience in one or more of the following areas: HVACR, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
• Solid understanding of: o HVAC systems and refrigeration cycles o Electrical troubleshooting and wiring diagrams o Plumbing systems and fixture installation o Framing, measuring, and drywall concepts o Hydraulic/pneumatic system components and operation
• Prior experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring in a trade setting (classroom, field training, apprenticeship programs, etc.).
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate both group instruction and individual coaching.
• Proficiency with basic computer systems and online training platforms.
• Committed to promoting safe work practices and compliance with OSHA safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industry certifications such as: o EPA Universal o OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

Physical Environment:

• Work can be performed in a variety of settings, from temperature-controlled office environments to outdoor areas exposed to the elements
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment
• Stooping, bending twisting, and reaching may be required
• Some work may be completed in classroom or shop environment

Pay:

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
