  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education. PEL preferred.
  • Experience as an Early Childhood educator. Supervision of educators preferred.
  • Pleasant personality and neat appearance
  • Able to work with and around children
  • Ability to operate audio-visual equipment
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Emotionally and physically able to perform duties required of position
  • Have a good command of the English language
  • Have a basic knowledge of first aid and health procedures
  • Possess general knowledge of office equipment Supervisor Director of Early Learning and/ or Building Principal Responsibilities Support classroom education staff (teachers and paraprofessionals) for the purpose of refining teaching practices, improving instructional quality, and achieving mastery as Early Childhood Professionals.
1. Curriculum a. Ensure the program selects a high-quality curriculum in alignment with the Illinois Early Learning standards. b. Manage program implementation of selected curriculum, assessment tool, and any supplemental materials. Align program practices and standards to support quality implementation. c. Coordinate teacher training and professional development on selected curricula. d. Provide support to classroom education staff in creating lesson plans that are faithful to the curriculum and developmentally appropriate. Review lesson plans and provide teachers with timely feedback and recommendations. 2. Professional Development a. Collaborate with classroom education staff to develop individual professional development plans for each staff member. b. Identify professional development opportunities offered by funders, regional professional development providers, and others that align to teaching staff goals and needs. c. Develop and facilitate a professional learning community focused on instructional excellence 3. Observation and Coaching a. Conduct regular coaching observations in all assigned classrooms and maintain records. b. Engage education staff in individual and group reflective coaching to discuss observations and develop a plan to strengthen challenging areas and build on areas of strength. c. Support peer observation and learning between classrooms. 4. Instructional quality a. Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops and conferences, to bring new ideas and emerging best practices into the program. b. Identify resources and materials that will support instructional quality and integrate them into program practices. c. Develop internal systems and procedures that advance instructional quality.
