Job Description
Operations Technical Trainer Sunbelt Solomon United States, Kansas, Solomon 129 West Main Street (Show on map) Apr 15, 2026 The Operations Technical Trainer is responsible for serving as both a technical subject matter expert (SME) and a highly detail-oriented administrator supporting the company's operational training programs. Reporting to the Training and Development Manager, this role guides team members through complex technical operations by designing, delivering, documenting, auditing and continuously maintaining comprehensive product and process training. In addition to hands-on instruction, this position carries a significant administrative and systems-based workload, including managing training documentation, schedules, records, audits, and learning resources. The trainer ensures all training content remains aligned with approved materials and Standard Work Instructions, and acts as a frontline technical resource for training clarification, quality, gap identification, and continuous improvement. Training delivery supports both new hires and current team members and directly reinforces our Core Value of Performance-delivering excellence at every opportunity. Instruction is delivered through a variety of methods, including classroom, workshops, computer-based learning, video, PowerPoint, on-the-job training, one-on-one coaching, and large-group sessions. This role requires a technically capable professional who can translate operational complexity into effective training while maintaining rigorous administrative control to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Deliver training curriculum aligned with Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Job Aids, and Checklists.
- Execute and maintain the master training schedule, including new-hire orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training programs.
- Manage and maintain the on-site Learning Lab to support hands-on training activities.
- Conduct routine training audits to ensure compliance with established standards and effectiveness of training delivery.
- Assess team member performance and identify needs for additional, specialized, or adaptive instruction.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of Safety, Quality, and Operational standards, as well as other systems that may influence training needs.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to trainees, department leaders, and Site Managers regarding trainee performance and progression against Job Progression standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across multiple product lines to develop, update, and improve training materials.
- Conduct gap analysis of standard work and quality documentation to identify training opportunities and ensure alignment with operational requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including supporting production activities such as building active orders to meet shipment commitments.
- Thorough understanding of the Safety and Quality Standards and Standard Work Procedures for each product line.
- Ability to patiently explain technical material to less technically proficient users.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
- Public speaking/facilitator experience.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experience:
- Proficient in the process of remanufacturing transformers.
- Highly knowledgeable of Sunbelt Solomon procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to respond to the employees' inquiries and concerns accurately.
Travel:
- Up to 25% required annually.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to observe trainees' performance and provide instruction as necessary.
