This position is essential for executing our signature events and enhancing fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include managing HSWM's signature events and assisting with sponsorship procurement. This position will also oversee community third-party fundraising and adoption events, building partnerships that support our mission. Additionally, the Development & Events Specialist will manage the organization's corporate volunteer program, coordinating one-time group volunteer opportunities to increase community involvement. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree preferred (comparable professional development & training experience will be considered) Holds a current valid driver's license 1-3 years of experience with fundraising events & logistics preferred Availability to work nights and weekends for events is required. Experience with or willingness to learn how to tow and operate trailer required CRM experience Excellent project management skills Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excell, PowerPoint) Well-developed writing, grammar, and editing skills Friendly and outgoing personality that communicates a positive attitude within and outside the workplace Flexible work schedule that will adjust for working nights and weekends Ability to be reliable, responsible, timely and accountable Ability to follow instructions and stay on task to ensure the safety of animals, others and self Willingness to create and maintain a clean, healthy and safe shelter environment Ability to work independently and with others to foster a positive and healthy work environment Willingness to work with animals of any species, breed and size without prejudice Works effectively and respectfully with internal and external customers, including staff, co-workers, supervisors, volunteers, clients and the general public Ability to act with integrity and demonstrate commitment to and passion for Humane Society of West Michigan's mission and values
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Engagement Manage, retain, and develop past and new third-party and adoption events Collaborate with Content Coordinator to ensure promotion of all third-party and adoption events Collaborate with Director of Animal Welfare to select animals to go to off-site adoption events Coordinate HSWM's corporate and group volunteer programs Collaborate with other HSWM shelter staff to determine group volunteer needs for the organization Signature Events Plan and execute all HSWM's signature events (Paws Claws & Corks, Humane Hustle 5K, Birthday Party & Family Carnival) Assist Director of Development & Marketing with sponsorship prospecting and solicitation Manage tracking system to ensure all obligations to sponsors are fulfilled Coordinate design needs for printed event materials Manage the recruitment, organization, and management volunteers needed for signature events Work with in-kind sponsors (design, print, media) and donors to procure goods and services needed for the events, working to keep event related expenses to a minimum and under budget. Manage the procurement of all silent and live auction items. Collaborate with the Development Coordinator to ensure all auction, guest, and participant information is accurate and updated in all systems. Coordinate all licensing/logistics needed for events. Manage relevant signature event committees Fund Development Manage a portfolio of 50-60 corporate sponsors and third-party donors Oversee HSWM's Special Event & Third-Party Budgets Participate in the Development & Communications Board Committee, as needed. Utilize CRM Software to track donor and sponsor stewardship and communication. Assist with updating donor records, pulling donor information and running reports to track progress towards budget goals across various event-related areas Other Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge of animal welfare issues, including spaying/neutering, pet overpopulation and responsible pet care practices Attend all major dates in regards to events (evenings and weekends required) Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development & Marketing to meet the needs of the organization

Expectations of Employees Treat all animals and people humanely, with compassion, both on and off the job, and transmits these values to others Provide accurate information and courteous service to the public at all times Discretion with confidential and financial information Adhere to all state and local laws regarding personally owned animals Work Environment May be exposed to unpleasant noises, odor and animal feces May be exposed to bites, scratches and zoonotic diseases Physical Demands Work requires lifting and carrying animals and items that weigh up to 40 pounds. Will be assisted by other staff members with animals and items weighing over 40 pounds. Will be required to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Will frequently work in a bent position.

$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
