Summary:
Responsible for supervising Sr/Training Specialists/Instructors and assisting with technical training programs, planning, directing and distributing work.Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising and leading by example team of Sr/Training Specialists and assisting with T&E Training Program - planning, directing, and distributing work. Collaborate with the RTD's Instructional Design & Development Team (IDD) to analyze, continuously update, and improve training syllabi and materials to advance strategic learning priorities. Supervise and guide Instructors on the implementation of multiple training classes, including scheduling, session preparation, and communication to all stakeholders. Coach, mentor, and provide support to newly hired staff instructors; maintain the ability to respond to and manage minor conflicts that may arise within training programs, escalating to Manager, Rail Training as needed. Partner with CFR-243 Compliance Specialist to maintain compliance with FRA requirements. Participate in all training-related projects as assigned, which may include special assistance upon request, assistance at conferences or programs, and any other projects requested by management. Maintain and archive detailed records of all classes, including attendance, curriculum updates, May be designated Instructor for classes as needed and responsible for performing other appropriate tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor. Partner with immediate supervisor and colleague Principals to maintain and update RTD dashboard & data model for efficient management of training data and statistics. Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports. Other duties as directed.Education, Experience, and Qualifications :
Minimum :
Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Vocational Education, or related area from a US Department of Education accredited college or university. Five (5) years experience in transportation training, rail management or program facilitation. A maximum of two years of closely related work experience can be substituted for the education requirement.Preferred :
Previous supervisory experience serving in Acting Role or as Point Person. Experience in the design, development, presentation, and/or evaluation of technical skills and management development training programs desired. Experience working with learning management systems. Experience utilizing Smartboard and other technologies to enhance T&E training operations.Knowledge and Skills :
Essential :
Proven ability to effectively supervise, coach, motivate and mentor employees. Demonstrated teamwork, effective communication skills, and the ability to forge successful business alliances with diverse stakeholders Ability to demonstrate subject matter expertise in technical training area knowledge assigned. Strong presentation, written and verbal skills required. Skill/ability to instruct in both a classroom and remote (distance learning) environment. Experience using Microsoft Office Tools (i.e. Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) with strong presentation, written, and verbal skills are required.Preferred :
Ability to consistently recognize opportunities for improvement and development, and the ability to execute on new ideas to improve training programs .This Position Supervises:
Sr/Training Specialists (LETP, PTC Simulator, Second Day) Special Duty (as needed)Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Experience (e.g. NORAC/DSLE/Engineer Certification), required based on assignment.Physical Demands:
Ability to work on computer both remotely and office environment. Ability to stand during in-person training sessions as needed to evaluate Instructors/Trainees. Ability to climb onto all types of locomotive cars to evaluate Instructors/Trainees during fieldwork exercises. Ability to walk track distance (approx. 1 mile) as needed to evaluate Instructors/Trainees during field training exercises.Working Environment :
