[About the Role] Join a leading electronics manufacturer as a PCB Design Engineer (IPC Technical Trainer) contractor in Rochester, NY (or Fort Wayne, IN / Palm Bay, FL). This 100% onsite role is ideal for a hands-on expert in electronics manufacturing, passionate about training and upholding industry standards. You'll directly impact product quality, mentor technical talent, and drive process improvements with potential for contract-to-hire and career advancement. Work in a modern, safety-focused onsite environment. [Responsibilities] Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on IPC standards, including hand soldering and cable assembly practices. Create, update, and maintain training materials and multimedia aids in line with evolving industry best practices. Assess and evaluate trainees' proficiency through practical and theoretical testing, providing feedback and additional coaching as needed. Maintain accurate records of training sessions, employee certifications, and compliance status. Stay current on IPC standards, integrating new methodologies and continuous improvements into training. Lead quality control initiatives, emphasizing safety, defect reduction, and root cause analysis. Support in-depth investigations of quality issues, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement corrective actions. Facilitate quality improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements. Travel up to 5% to other sites for training purposes; occasional overtime may be required. [Required Skills and Experience] Minimum 3-5 years' experience in electronics manufacturing, specializing in hand soldering, cable building, and application of IPC standards. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electronics preferred. - IPC certification (CIT/CIS) in standards such as
IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-J-STD-001
; ISO9001 or AS9100 auditor certification. Proficient use of measuring tools (calipers, multimeters, thread gauges, profilometers). Strong technical understanding of IPC standards and electronics manufacturing processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective presenter and mentor. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in developing and using training aids and multimedia materials. [Preferred Skills] Proficiency with MS Office suite.
