Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Learning Systems Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training that supports faculty and students. The position focuses primarily on creating and facilitating training opportunities including face-to-face workshops, live remote sessions, self-paced training modules, documentation, tutorials, and other faculty support resources. This position will work closely with the entire instructional design and technology team, academic departments, and other stakeholders to identify training needs and develop practical, timely, and accessible learning opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Faculty Training and Professional Development Design, develop and deliver training for faculty and students on the institution's Learning Management System and related teaching and learning applications. Create and facilitate face-to-face workshops, live remote training sessions, self-paced courses, tutorials and just-in-time training resources. Develop training materials that support faculty and students use of tools such as the LMS, Microsoft Teams, VoiceThread, Panopto, ProctorU, and other instructional technologies. Provide individual and small-group training to faculty based on course needs, program needs, or institutional priorities. Evaluate training effectiveness and revise materials based on feedback, system changes, and emerging needs. Instructional Technology Adoption and Faculty Support Consult with faculty on how they use teaching and learning technologies to support their learning goals. Recommend appropriate tools and workflows based on faculty needs and course delivery formats. Assist academic programs with targeted training needs, especially during technology transitions or course redesign efforts. Assessment and Evaluation Actively participates in the department's/division's ongoing assessment processes, as required by the unit's supervisor or assessment coordinator. Other Participate in assigned committee(s). Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or related field preferred. Two years of experience supporting faculty in an academic setting is preferred. Experience teaching in an on-ground, hybrid, blended, or online format is preferred. Experience in developing courses in a learning management system is preferred. Experience with Moodle or another enterprise Learning Management System is preferred. Experience with tools such as Microsoft Teams, VoiceThread Panopto, Turnitin, ProctorU, or similar academic technologies is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to design training that is practical, engaging, and responsive to faculty need. Must communicate to various levels of technical expertise, from beginner to advanced users. Must have exceptional presentation skills and a demonstrated knowledge of media applications and course authoring tools. Ability to support both technical skill development and instructional application of technology. Ability to communicate patiently and effectively with users at different comfort levels. Must have excellent communication skills. Should have working knowledge of copyright policies and intellectual property rights. Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours as required during peak periods of academic activity and be on call regularly.
