Job Description

Location:
Gaithersburg, MD (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)

Public Trust Schedule:
9x80 schedule available We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support a major agile transformation initiative within a government-focused program environment. This individual will help guide teams transitioning from traditional Waterfall methodologies into a scalable Agile framework while driving collaboration, delivery effectiveness, and continuous improvement across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and change agent who can influence resistant teams, coach leadership, and establish sustainable Agile practices in a highly matrixed environment. Key Responsibilities Coach and mentor cross-functional Agile teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and leadership Lead Agile transformation efforts across multiple teams and organizational levels Support implementation and adoption of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) execution, PI Planning sessions, retrospectives, workshops, and continuous improvement initiatives Identify and remove organizational impediments, delivery bottlenecks, and process inefficiencies Build trust and credibility with teams resistant to organizational change Guide leadership on Agile mindset, Lean-Agile principles, servant leadership, and organizational agility Promote transparency, accountability, collaboration, and delivery-focused metrics Align Agile practices with compliance, governance, and contractual delivery requirements in a government contracting environment Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning Required Qualifications 7+ years of Agile coaching experience, including enterprise-level transformation initiatives Proven experience coaching within government contracting or federal environments Strong hands-on experience with SAFe implementation and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) Experience facilitating PI Planning and scaled Agile delivery models Demonstrated success influencing teams and stakeholders through organizational change Strong understanding of Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean, and DevSecOps Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, highly matrixed environments Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain or maintain Public Trust clearance Preferred Qualifications Certified Agile Coach SAFe certification Previous government or military program experience Experience supporting compliance-heavy or mission-focused programs Desired Traits Strong servant leadership mindset High emotional intelligence and relationship-building ability Calm and effective under pressure Pragmatic and adaptable coaching style Passionate about helping teams improve and succeed
Pay:
$70.00 - $75.00 per hour
