Job Description
Job Summary:
To provide educational home visiting services to families with children under three with developmental delays.
Responsibilities:
Provide family-centered early intervention services to assigned caseload of children and families in individual and/or group settings. Independently maintain caseload paperwork and home visit requirements. Assess child's development and family needs using formal and informal assessment tools and methods. Build relationships with families that support the optimal growth and development of the child. Provide parent/caregiver with information, tools, and resources to ensure they achieve a level of understanding of their child's development, evidence-based parenting practices, and appropriate behavior management. Provide parent/caregiver with information, tools, and resources to ensure their understanding/knowledge of and/or increase their competency in the use of developmentally appropriate activities in support of their child's developmental needs. Assist families in identifying natural supports within their extended family and community. Actively collaborate with other service providers, including treating therapists and the Early Steps Program, Healthy Families Martin, Healthy Start. Promotes early literacy for children. Maintains comprehensive written and electronic reports according to agency and program requirements. Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality standards of the agency and program, including HIPPA. Attends community meetings, staff meetings, in-service education and ongoing trainings. Provide and maintain reliable transportation for on-the-job travel requirements. Practice safety and infectious disease control measures. Support the department and agency in the implementation and accomplishment of its mission. Adhere to established safety procedures and practices in your working environment.
Physical Responsibilities:
The ability to operate an automobile. The ability to bend, stoop, sit on floor, and participate in children's play activities.
Equipment Used:
Computer, laptop fax/copy/scan machine.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree preferable or Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Early Childhood Development, Special Education, Education, Human Services, or other related field; Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist certification or equivalent; experience can be substituted for education. At least two years' work experience working with young children and families. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, have full-time access to a reliable vehicle, and appropriate auto insurance coverage. Bilingual English-Spanish.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Good people skills, organized and dependable. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Experience in working with culturally diverse communities / families, with demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
