TITLE:
Lead Youth Development Professional
REPORTS TO
Program Coordinator or Director
CLASSIFIED
Part Time, Non-Exempt MISSION:
To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Youth Development Professional creates, leads, and evaluates daily youth programming while ensuring a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate Club environment. This role provides direct supervision of youth and supports Youth Development Professionals through on-the-spot coaching, feedback, and guidance.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of daily programs, activities, and special events in assigned program areas. Encourage member engagement, belonging, and healthy peer relationships. Maintain active supervision of youth and uphold all safety standards and policies. Ensure program spaces are clean, welcoming, well-organized, and safe for all members. Support youth experiencing behavioral challenges using aligned corrective strategies. Provide real-time and follow-up feedback to Youth Development Professionals and volunteers. Model positive interactions, professionalism, and Club values. Maintain open communication with supervisors and staff as needed. Facilitate activities that build confidence, social skills, leadership, and teamwork. Encourage fair play, respect, and positive decision-making in all program activities. Complete required documentation including attendance, incident reports, assessments, and behavior notes. Monitor program equipment, supplies, and space usage; report needs promptly. Attend 100% of required meetings: monthly all-staff, biweekly one-on-ones, and team meetings. Collaborate with supervisor on performance goals and follow-through expectations. Provide daily feedback on program successes and opportunities for improvement. Implement BGCA's Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent Valid CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment. We provide this training in-house if you are not currently certified! Commitment to working four days a week. Commitment to make a class schedule for the upcoming semester, meet the scheduling needs of the Boys & Girls Club (if applicable) Commitment to working at the Club during the summer. Must be able to work within the school year operating hours of the Club. Must be able to work within the summer operating hours of the Club. Must understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior management principles and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club training and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, etc. at the Club to ensure the safety of the space and others, provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals. Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift. This position is considered to be safety-sensitive.
