Overview:
Athena Manufacturing is seeking a Training Specialist to support the growth, development, and long-term success of our workforce. This position is responsible for designing, coordinating, delivering, and continuously improving employee development programs that enhance technical capability, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and operational performance. The Training Specialist serves as a strategic partner to Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Human Resources by developing training systems, supporting workforce development initiatives, managing employee development programs, and helping create career pathways that enable employees to grow within Athena. This role plays a critical part in supporting Athena's apprenticeship programs, educational partnerships, leadership development initiatives, onboarding processes, and continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities :
(include but not limited to) : Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following: Training & Development Programs Design, coordinate, and facilitate employee training programs across all departments. Develop and maintain structured training plans for new hires and existing employees. Create and update training materials, presentations, guides, assessments, and supporting documentation. Partner with subject matter experts to develop technical and operational training content. Ensure training programs align with organizational goals and business objectives. Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements as needed. Onboarding & Employee Integration Coordinate and facilitate employee onboarding activities. Support the development of onboarding plans that accelerate employee success and productivity. Ensure new employees receive required safety, quality, compliance, and departmental training. Track onboarding completion and employee progress during introductory employment periods. Partner with supervisors and leaders to ensure successful employee integration into the organization. Workforce Development & Career Pathways Support workforce development initiatives that promote employee growth and advancement. Assist in developing career progression pathways across manufacturing and support functions. Coordinate apprenticeship, internship, externship, and workforce development programs. Build relationships with educational institutions, workforce agencies, and community partners. Support succession planning and internal promotion initiatives. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Leadership Development Support the development and delivery of leadership training for Leads, Supervisors, and Managers. Facilitate training related to communication, accountability, coaching, employee engagement, and leadership effectiveness. Coordinate leadership development workshops and learning opportunities. Assist leaders in creating employee development plans and growth opportunities. Skills Management & Training Administration Maintain employee training records and qualification documentation. Develop and manage skills matrices and competency tracking systems. Monitor training compliance and completion requirements. Coordinate retraining and recertification activities as required. Prepare training reports and workforce development metrics for leadership review. Continuous Improvement Analyze workforce development data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Recommend and implement improvements to training processes and systems. Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with process standardization and knowledge transfer activities. Participate in special projects that support organizational growth and employee development. Compliance & Quality Support Ensure training programs support applicable regulatory, customer, and quality requirements. Support compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, safety, and customer-specific training requirements. Assist during audits related to training, competency verification, and employee qualifications. Maintain accurate and organized training documentation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in training, workforce development, organizational development, learning and development, human resources, manufacturing operations, or a related field. Experience developing and delivering employee training programs. Experience maintaining training records and documentation. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field. Manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, or industrial experience. Experience supporting apprenticeship programs, workforce development initiatives, or educational partnerships. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS). Experience supporting ISO 9001, AS9100, or other regulated environments.
Bilingual English and Spanish Physical Requirements:
Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use. Ability to conduct training sessions in both office and manufacturing environments. Ability to move throughout production areas and training locations. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
