Job Description

MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST- TRAINING
Trinity Metro has an immediate opening in the bargaining unit for a Maintenance Training Specialist. Under the direction of the Maintenance Training Supervisor, the incumbent will be required to assist the Training Supervisor in conducting classroom, hands-on, and one-on-one training for maintenance department employees on topics including but not limited to basic mechanical skills, coach components, safety and troubleshooting/repairing new equipment. Our maintenance Training Specialist plays a crucial role in the safe operation of Trinity Metro's bus system. The Maintenance Training Specialist will assist in assessing the developmental needs of the maintenance employees. This position's responsibilities include: Assists the Training Supervisor in identifying situations that may require preventative or remedial training for employees. Assists the Training Supervisor in preparing training programs based on goals and objectives. Includes researching materials, formulating lesson plans, selecting or developing teaching aids, and scheduling classes. May coordinate outside vendor training. Conducts formal and hands-on training sessions covering areas such as new hire orientation & training, on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, safety practices, etc. Conducts follow-up evaluations to measure learning progress and training effects. Prepares written tests and receives feedback from management and students. Supports the Training Supervisor and staff on maintenance policies, procedures, and processes related to maintenance tasks. Works in a Bus Shop Specialist role when not working on training initiatives. Maintains training library and records accomplishments. Participates in Trinity Metro's community activities to promote transit on off duty hours. Works closely with the Maintenance Training Supervisor on projects, Training schedules, and all training matters. Any and all other duties as assigned. Maintains confidential information. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a CDL with a passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. Trinity Metro provides opportunities to obtain a Class B CDL license. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional extended hours as needed.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of progressively responsible experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, engineering, or another related field.
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited college or technical school with Associate's degree or 60 credit hours in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Vocation Instruction, or another field related to vehicle repair and maintenance or training. Any combination of experience, training, and/or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may substitute for the required education.
