This role is critical to developing the next generation of HVAC professionals while elevating the technical and customer service capabilities of our existing workforce. As the leader of our training programs, you will be responsible for leading, delivering, and continuously enhancing technical training programs that prepare entry-level technicians for successful field careers while supporting the ongoing development of experienced technicians across the organization. At the center of this role is Reliant's Hero Tech Academy, our intensive hands-on technician development program designed specifically for individuals new to the HVAC industry. Whether a student enters with no experience or limited experience, the Academy equips them with the technical skills, field readiness, and customer communication capabilities needed to succeed in residential HVAC. The program is built around practical application, with approximately 70% of training focused on hands-on learning and field readiness, ensuring graduates develop strong troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and customer service skills before entering the field. In addition to leading the Academy, this role partners with operational leaders to support technician career progression, identify skill gaps, and ensure our workforce remains prepared for continued growth. This state-of-the-art training facility includes:
A modern classroom equipped with advanced audio and video technology for interactive instruction A dedicated electrical lab featuring training boards designed for real-world troubleshooting A technical lab with more than 20 modern HVAC systems for hands-on training These systems represent a wide range of equipment types, efficiencies, and control technologies—from standard single-stage systems to multi-stage, variable-speed, and fully communicating equipment. This allows students to train on the same types of systems they will encounter in the field while providing instructors the resources to teach both foundational concepts and advanced diagnostics in a highly practical environment. Essential Responsibilities Academy Leadership Lead and oversee Reliant's Hero Tech Academy, our flagship technician development program for entry-level HVAC talent. Deliver classroom, lab, and hands-on field instruction to prepare students for successful transition into technician roles. Teach both HVAC technical fundamentals and customer communication skills essential for in-home service success. Evaluate student progress through assessments, field observation, coaching, and performance feedback. Ensure graduates are fully prepared to perform maintenance, identify repair opportunities, communicate effectively with homeowners, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Technician Development Conduct regular training sessions and workshops for Service, Maintenance, and Installation Technicians. Deliver training focused on diagnostics, repair techniques, communication, and customer service. Identify technical and soft-skill gaps and provide coaching to support technician growth and performance. Support certification and ongoing career development initiatives. Training Program Execution & Continuous Improvement Deliver training content, materials, and hands-on instruction aligned with company standards and operational goals. Partner with leadership to provide feedback and recommendations for ongoing improvements to training materials and program effectiveness. Ensure training remains aligned with industry best practices, manufacturer updates, and emerging HVAC technologies. Measure training effectiveness through technician performance, retention, development, and operational outcomes. Maintain training documentation and reporting metrics. Workforce Development Partner with leadership to support technician career progression and internal development pathways. Support succession planning and technician advancement initiatives. Assist with candidate evaluations and Academy selection processes. Promote a culture of continuous learning and development throughout the organization. Facility & Resource Management Manage training equipment, inventory, tools, and learning resources. Ensure training labs and facilities remain organized, safe, and fully operational. Manage training resources and recommend strategic investments to improve program effectiveness. Qualifications Required Minimum 7 years of residential HVAC experience in service, maintenance, installation, or technical leadership. Previous experience in training, teaching, coaching, or mentoring others. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair. Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills. Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Ability to engage and develop adult learners with varying levels of experience.
