Job Description

The Employee Development and Relations Specialist provides administrative, fiscal, and operational support to the Employee Development and Relations (EDR) unit. This role bridges office operations and talent strategy by managing departmental accounts, coordinating complex training logistics, and serving as a primary point of contact for employee relations inquiries. The position ensures the office remains compliant, organized, and fiscally sound while actively participating in the delivery of campus-wide development initiatives. Supports the Manager in designing and implementing learning programs. Coordinates campus-wide training schedules, manages registration systems, and develops/purchases training materials and supplies. Acts as the first point of contact for employee relations inquiries. Assists with documenting ADA accommodations and maintaining case files. Serves as the account manager for all departmental fund accounts and training budgets. Uses Banner (or equivalent) for reconciliation, budget transfers, and managing personnel purchasing cards. Supervises and approves time for student assistants. Leads organizational communications regarding HR development resources. Coordinates meetings, takes minutes for sensitive committees, and assists in data collection for engagement and accreditation studies. Provides general support for daily operations of the HR office by managing office inventory and maintaining equipment. Runs SUU's wellness program Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent years of school and experience. A minimum of two (2) years of related experience. Demonstrated experience in budget reconciliation, purchasing, and basic accounting practices. General understanding of labor laws (FLSA, ADA, Title VII) and the ability to handle confidential personnel information with discretion. Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, delegate effectively, and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications 4 Year / Bachelor's degree. Experience in a Higher Education HR setting. Experience with training facilitation, instructional design support, and/or employee relations. This position is contingent on funding. Due to recent changes in H1B visa fees, Southern Utah University is no longer able to sponsor international faculty and staff that require an H1B visa and are currently living outside of the United States.
