Lead Peer Recovery Support Specialist Non-Supervisory Clinical Lead Role Position Summary The Lead Peer Recovery Support Specialist (Lead PRSS) serves as a clinical and operational resource for Peer Recovery Support Specialists across mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services. This position provides leadership through training, education, mentoring, consultation, and quality support to promote consistent, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered peer services throughout the organization. This role does not provide direct personnel supervision or disciplinary oversight but functions as a peer services leader and subject matter expert supporting peer staff and program development across behavioral health services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Consultation Serve as a resource and consultant regarding peer recovery support services and best practices. Support Peer Recovery Support Specialists in delivering effective recovery-oriented services. Promote recovery principles including hope, resiliency, empowerment, and self-determination. Assist programs in integrating peer support services into multidisciplinary teams. Support peer staff in maintaining ethical boundaries and appropriate use of lived experience. Training & Education Coordinate onboarding and ongoing education for peer staff. Develop and facilitate training Assist in identifying peer workforce development needs. Quality & Program Support Provide mentorship and coaching related to peer service delivery and documentation. Support quality improvement initiatives and peer service development. Assist with maintaining compliance with agency, Medicaid, and accreditation standards. Collaboration Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to improve recovery outcomes and service integration. Participate in meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives as assigned. Promote effective communication and teamwork between peer staff and clinical teams. Direct Service May provide direct peer recovery support services as needed and be responsible for a lighter caseload Complete documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Current West Virginia Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification required, dual certification for MH and SUD preferred. Obtain within 6 months if not currently dual certified. Experience in mental health, SUD, or co-occurring services preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of peer support experience preferred. Experience with training, mentoring, or facilitation preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills required. Valid driver's license may be required based on program needs. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday. Ability to travel between agency locations and community-based settings as required. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, phones, and electronic health record systems. Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone with clients, staff, and community partners. Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 20 pounds. Ability to safely perform duties in office, clinic, residential, and community environments. Ability to respond appropriately in high-stress or crisis situations while maintaining professionalism and composure. #HP Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
