Job Description

About Us:
Gold Country Wildlife Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured and orphaned wildlife while advancing public awareness and understanding of the critical role of wildlife within the ecosystems we share. Join our team of dedicated professionals making a meaningful impact on wildlife health and well-being.
Position Summary:
Assisting with daily animal care and basic operations of the Wildlife Intake Center. Works closely with the Wildlife Care Manager and Wildlife Technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Animal Care:
Assist with all aspects of animal care (including but not limited to): Food preparation Feeding infant mammals and avian species Enclosure cleaning Laundry, dishes, and general sanitization
Operations:
Operational errands including but not limited to, rodent pick up, animal pick up/drop off, grocery shopping Maintain the Wildlife Intake Center in a clean, sanitary and professional condition Assist in ensuring that all Gold Country Wildlife Rescue policies, procedures and protocols are followed Assist with other operational projects as directed
Administrative:
Serve as a primary point of contact for the public, addressing inquiries and requests with positivity, warmth, and professionalism Assist with the initial intake process for wildlife patients and ensure their safe transport to triage Create accurate patient documentation and enter data into WRMD (Wildlife Rehabilitation Medical Database) Assist with educating the public on wildlife-related issues and the status of patients Manage and process the intake of donations at the front door Coordinate the receiving of packages and supply order deliveries Conduct light cleaning duties in administrative, volunteer, and staff areas Assisting with essential duties directed by the
Wildlife Care Manager Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED 1 year of animal care experience
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, write and comprehend documents, including animal care manuals written in English Strong attention to detail Clear communication skills including both verbal and written (email, text) Ability to multitask, strong organizational skills, basic computer skills Ability to weigh/record weights in grams Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) Ability to assist under Wildlife Technicians direction with standardized situations with only occasional variables, ability to work in a team environment, and to act as a self-starter when needed Ability and willingness to follow clear protocols and instructions with the awareness to ask for guidance when unsure about proper procedure Ability to arrive on time for shift and maintain a positive and professional demeanor Ability to work respectfully and professionally with paid staff and volunteers. Ability to work both in a team as well as individually. Must have reliable transportation.
