Kennel Attendant, Dog Handler Location:

Pay:
$17-18.50/hour (based on experience) Job Overview We're looking for a dedicated, compassionate and responsible Kennel Attendant, Dog Handler to ensure our dogs are safe, calm, and comfortable. You'll play a key role in maintaining a peaceful, clean, and secure environment while following feeding, medication, and care routines. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, dependable, and genuinely loves working with dogs. This is an independent role that requires responsibility, attentiveness, and strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Start-of-Shift Procedures Review notes from the day staff and confirm feeding, medication, or special care instructions. Conduct a full facility walkthrough to ensure dogs are crated safely, gates are locked, and all supplies are stocked. Review potty logs for current updates. Feeding & Medication Follow feeding charts and medication schedules precisely. Use labeled bowls and verify portions and instructions. Record meals and medications in Keeper notes immediately after completion. Note refusals or unusual behavior for morning staff follow-up. Potty Breaks & Clean-Up Conduct potty breaks for every dog (always on leash). Record potty events (Urine / BM / None) in Keeper app. Clean and sanitize any accidents promptly Quiet Hours & Day Time Monitoring Maintain a calm and quiet environment. Perform hourly walk-throughs to ensure dogs are resting comfortably and not barking. Document behavior and text the on-call trainer if any dog appears unwell. Confirm all doors and gates remain locked during rounds. Cleaning & Maintenance Keep the facility odor free and tidy: spot mop spills, sanitize crate doors and handles, and empty trash. Refill all water bowls and start/switch laundry loads as needed. Ensure kennels are neat and ready at all times. Documentation Log all meals, meds, potty, and cleaning before shift end. Note rest periods (if taken) for coverage tracking. End-of-Shift Duties Confirm all logs are complete in the Keeper app. Check that kennels are clean, water bowls are full, trash is emptied, (if applicable laundry has been switched) Professional Conduct Treat all dogs with patience, kindness, and calm confidence. Never use harsh handling or raise your voice. No personal visitors, pets, alcohol, or unauthorized guests permitted. Respect the facility, coworkers, and company property. Requirements Prior experience in animal care or kennel work preferred. Familiarity with positive reinforcement handling is a plus. Must be reliable, self starter, and comfortable working independently. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Dependable transportation and strong communication skills required.
