Job Description

Farm Animal Caregiver / Farm Hand JP Farm Animal Sanctuary•Litchfield, CT JP Farm Animal Sanctuary is seeking an experienced, reliable Farm Hand and Animal Caregiver to care for rescued cows, pigs, chickens, and donkeys. This position requires someone who can work independently, follow detailed care protocols, and communicate clearly through written shift reports. Position Part-time position for approximately 5-6 months, with potential for extension. $22/hour starting wage
Sundays:
7:00 AM•11:30 AM Immediate start preferred. The successful candidate will participate in a structured training period on Wednesday and Friday mornings at first then many more throughout the week before assuming regular Sunday responsibilities. Additional hours available as a backup caregiver when regular staff are unavailable or during emergencies.
Typical shifts:
7:00 AM•11:30 AM 3:30 PM•8:00 PM Requirements Minimum 3 years of large and small farm animal experience Experience operating a tractor and basic farm equipment Reliable AWD or 4WD vehicle to be on time no matter the weather Live within 30 minutes of Litchfield, CT Age 18+ Valid driver's license with clean driving record Able to lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous physical labor Able to work in all weather conditions Strong animal observation skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Responsibilities Feed, water, and care for farm animals Monitor animal health and behavior Muck stalls and clean barns and animal areas Operate tractor and farm equipment safely Follow feeding and care schedules Complete detailed written reports after each shift Communicate concerns regarding animal health, welfare, and facility needs Assist with farm maintenance and minor repairs as needed
