Job Description

CATTERY SUPERVISOR
Job Description:
The Cattery Supervisor oversees all duties of the cat caretaking staff and ensures the proper care of the cats based on policies and procedures, and the standards of care on which Faithful Friends prides itself. This is a physical job that requires someone who is reliable and can work in a fast-paced, caring environment. Must be able to always maintain and reinforce a friendly and professional atmosphere. Excellent communication, recordkeeping and computer skills required. Must be mature, organized, a fast learner and able to work independently, as well as a team, with the Cat Department Manager, Cat Team and Clinic Staff. An ideal candidate would have some experience working with cats.

Tuesday and Friday 11-7; Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9-5
Duties:
Oversees all day-to-day cat care and staffing issues Coordinates and conducts interviews, hiring, training, re-training when necessary, of all cat caretakers and shift leads Updates staff availability, prepares, distributes and posts weekly schedule, updates birthday list and phone list distributes and adjusts as needed Maintains Cat Care Handbook, updates as needed, distributes and reviews with all new hires, and ensures they are all following procedures and protocols, and standards of care are met Keeps staff apprised of all updates and any pertinent information via group chat Updates staff availability, prepares, distributes, and posts weekly schedule Handles staff call outs, finds coverage for call outs, or covers shifts if no coverage is found. Must also come to the shelter for emergencies, including if cats are dumped off hours and there is no other staff member available to do intake, and for severe weather Documents personnel issues, daily staff issues and problems, and discusses with Cat Department Manager weekly or sooner if needed Handles basic disciplinary actions, prepares write up, makes termination decisions with Cat Department Manager and meets with staff Meets with Leads as needed, and meets monthly with full staff Ensures all cats are fed and watered twice daily Oversees the overall cleanliness of the Cat Department Ensures periodic changing of scratching posts Ensures bedding in all free roaming areas and cages are clean and adequate on a daily basis Ensures thorough cleaning and disinfecting of cages and free roaming areas, and that cleaning protocol was followed Oversees daily deep cleaning schedule and extra tasks are being completed and signed off on along with the daily task sheet. Updates the deep cleaning schedule and the cat care workflow packet as needed Performs rounds walking the department frequently and does daily walk through with leads to ensure staff have completed all tasks Observes animals closely and identifies and addresses medical or behavioral concerns Ensures observation sheets are being completed and that cats are being written on the clinic board when necessary Ensures staff keeps up with laundry and dishes, food carts and litter bins are well stocked for next shift, and kitchen and laundry areas are neat and well maintained Places weekly food orders and ensures the cleanliness and organization of the food storage area Monitors litter inventory and places order as needed Ensures food and litter orders get put away in a timely manner Sorts and organizes daily donations Maintains an inventory of supplies, making sure staff has everything they need, and orders what is needed Schedules and oversees deep cleaning of adoption rooms, cottages/catios, ISO rooms, and barn Puts away cats after intake and handles surrenders when Cat Department Manager is not available or here Scans and attaches surrender forms in ShelterLuv Attends and breaks down Barn Placements when needed Checks location of each cat against weekly location report to verify accuracy Coordinates with maintenance team for repairs throughout the department Updates staff availability spreadsheet as needed Monitors Cat Caretaker hours throughout the month eliminating or minimizing overtime Ensures Cat Caretaker hours are input and correct in payroll system, enters payroll notes, and completes by month-end deadline Performs other duties as required or assigned by the
Cat Department Manager Skills Required:
Prior supervisory experience Computer skills Strong organizational skills Be able to carry and lift up to 50 lbs. Good interpersonal skills Punctual and reliable Able to lead and work with a team References will be required prior to hiring.
