Non-Exempt Summary:
Responsible for maintaining animal habitats, preparing meals, facilitating hand's on guest education programs, and monitoring animals' health by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Demonstrates world class service to guests of Daytona Aquarium & Rainforest Adventure at all experience/interpretation areas. Delivers engaging and empowering interpretive programs at exhibit areas to include public conservation keeper talks, feeding demonstrations, guided tours and roaming between activities to engage guests. Performs all duties as assigned by Reptile Curator in a timely and accurate fashion. Responds to and addresses customer concerns in a positive manner. Performs safe animal handling and observation to ensure safety and well-being of animals including a wide range of reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and arachnids, including venomous animals. Reports animal safety or health concerns to manager. Prepares and feeds animals following all necessary guidelines for preparing and dispensing meals. Completes daily cleaning assignments of animal enclosures and exhibits to ensure areas are presentable and well-maintained for animals. Follows safety protocols by ensuring enclosures are locked and participates in safety drill procedures. Performs various cleaning activities to include sweeping and mopping floor space, vacuuming carpeted areas and cleaning restrooms. Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures. Maintains flexible schedule to include weekend, evening and holiday hours. Maintains training and licensing certifications. Attends required staff meetings and trainings. Maintains a professional appearance at all times and displays exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of computers.
