Farm & Equine Animal Care Technician - Make a Difference for Rescued Horses and Livestock Freeport, FL | Full-Time or Part-Time Do you have a passion for working with horses, farm animals, and livestock—and want to put that passion to work for a good cause? Alaqua Animal Refuge, a nationally recognized nonprofit rescue and sanctuary on 100 acres in Freeport, Florida, is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Technician focused on farm animals and equines . We care for a variety of animals, including horses, goats, pigs, cows, sheep, and more—many of whom come from abuse, neglect, or abandonment. This role is hands-on, physical, and incredibly rewarding for someone who wants to make a real difference . What You'll Do Feed, water, groom, and monitor horses and farm animals daily Clean stalls, paddocks, pastures, and barns to maintain a safe, sanitary environment Assist with routine health care, farrier visits, and vet support Observe animal behavior and report health or behavioral concerns promptly Help with turnouts, enrichment, barn chores, and animal movement as needed Assist in intake and rehabilitation plans for rescued animals What We're Looking For Prior hands-on experience with horses and/or farm animals (required) Ability to safely handle animals of all sizes and temperaments Hardworking, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs, pushing wheelbarrows, etc. Team player with a strong sense of responsibility and animal compassion Why Join the Alaqua Team?
