We are looking for a Pet Groomer who is a team player and able to learn quickly. Must be a motivated self-starter with a positive attitude who is able to take direction and work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills are required. The ideal applicant would be a detail-oriented individual that possesses a strong work ethic, able to handle stressful situations and works well in a fast-paced environment. Willow Animal Clinic strives to provide high quality grooming services and excellent customer service to our clients. Our facility provides a dedicated grooming area with tables, large bathing tubs, dryers, equipment, high quality shampoos, high powered forced dryers and all necessary supplies to keep the area functioning properly.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform Dog and Cat Grooms/Deshedding Knowledge of dog and cat breeds Handle animals safely and compassionately, utilizing proper restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming sessions Provide exceptional customer service by explaining grooming procedures, recommending products, and addressing client questions or concerns Bathe and dry dogs and cats Express anal glands Trim nails/Dremel Clean ears Brush teeth Maintain grooming equipment Support veterinary or kennel staff with animal handling tasks as needed, including light veterinary assistance Ability to time manage and coordinate grooming pets with veterinary procedure and services.
CLEANING DUTIES
Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment for pets and the staff Clean the grooming area completely before you leave for the day Clean all dryer cages that are not occupied before you leave for the day Keep up with laundry used for grooming purposes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Pet Groomer Must be responsible to work the schedule they are assigned. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism is disruptive to client service and cannot be accommodated All employees must be able to read, write legibly and communicate clearly in English Must have good oral and written communication skills including the ability to listen, talk write and otherwise communicate with professionalism and tact Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse and view information on a computer screen is required Must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work energetically for the entire assigned shift, sometimes exceeding 8 hours per day. The shift does not end until all duties are completed for the day Physical exertion will include repetitive standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and lifting. Must be able to grasp, hold and manipulate objects varying from small and fine to large and heavy with both hands Must be able to safely and competently operate equipment pertinent to carrying out their duties Must physically hold and restrain pets who may struggle, scratch or try to bite. This requires the emotional ability to remain calm and compassionate with animals who are reacting to fear and/or pain and the physical strength, dexterity and reflexes to keep the pet, themselves and other staff members safe. Must be able to view physical symptoms or medical problems and follow handwritten instructions
