Job Description
About Us Bethesda Dog Walkers has cared for the dogs of busy Bethesda families since 2009. We've been voted "Best of Bethesda" seven times, including 2026, because our clients know their dogs are in the hands of someone who genuinely loves this work. We're a small, tight-knit team that takes pride in what we do. What This Role Actually Looks Like You'll take ownership of an established midday route. The same neighborhoods, the same dogs, the same families, every week. You leave home around mid-morning, walk your route, and wrap up by early afternoon. It's independent, outdoor work that fits naturally around school hours, other commitments, or a life that doesn't belong in an office. This is a permanent, recurring schedule, not a gig app where hours shift week to week. If you like knowing exactly what your week looks like and building real relationships with the dogs and families on your route, this role is a great fit. Schedule Monday through Friday, midday hours (operating window 9am to 5pm). Same days each week, 3 to 5 days depending on your route. Occasional evening and weekend coverage is shared across the team and scheduled well in advance. Paid training is included.
Pay:
$18.00-$22.00/hour What We're Looking For We care more about who you are than what's on your resume. The people who thrive here tend to be genuinely dog-obsessed (you'll be with them for hours, it has to be real), dependable to a fault, self-motivated and comfortable working independently, friendly and professional communicators, and detail-oriented. Our visit reports matter to clients. We also ask that you live within 20 minutes of Bethesda. Requirements Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and a clear background check. Comfortable working outdoors year-round. Consistent weekly availability, as this schedule does not rotate. Why People Love This Job The dogs are the obvious part. But walkers also tell us they love the autonomy, the physical activity, being outside, and the sense of ownership over their route. It's real work with real relationships, not a revolving door of strangers. Your route will mostly be consistent week to week, but this is a living business. Clients travel, new families join, and requests come in. That means some weeks are a little lighter and some are a little fuller, but you can always count on being busy. If you like a little variety within a predictable structure, that's exactly what this is. One thing we've learned after 15+ years: we'd rather have someone who can do 3 days a week and never misses than someone who promises 5 and struggles to deliver. Be honest about your availability in your application. It genuinely helps everyone, including you. How to Apply Applications are accepted on our website only, at https://www.bethesdadogwalkers.com/application. We do not accept applications through Indeed. If that feels like an extra step, this role probably isn't the right fit — attention to detail matters a lot in this job.Job Type:
