Job Description

Thank you for your interest in joining our team at Pup Scouts Boarding! We are a laid back, small, and relatively new company with an emphasis on safety and responsibility. We are looking for active and reliable additions to our team as we continue to grow and evolve! Previous professional experience with dogs is required. We are currently accepting applications to join our team! Please note that this position is part time, at about 16-32 hours a week, and you can expect two to four shifts a week. Please also note that while we are flexible with scheduling, we are currently only interviewing applicants with availability as late as 10:00pm and on weekends. As a team member, your responsibility is to keep the dogs safe, the facility clean, and the customers confident in our services.
Responsibilities include:
Patiently and attentively watching a group of active and frequently misbehaved dogs, preventing inappropriate or dangerous behavior such as mounting each other, eating feces, or even possibly a fight. Cleaning up after the dogs, including feces, urine, vomit, diarrhea, and hair, mopping and sweeping floors, wiping down surfaces, and changing mop buckets. Cleaning and wiping down the walls, fencing, play structures, and other objects. Bringing dogs to and from customers, taking payments when needed, and answering customer questions about our facility and services with a positive and professional attitude. Walking dogs outside quickly and securely.
Pros include:
Good pay compared to similar positions at other companies. Guaranteed quarterly pay raises. Ability to responsibly use your phone on shift if it does not impede your work. Less stressful than most dog care positions because we have less dogs and they are much less likely to have conflicts with each other. Flexible scheduling. Highly discounted dog care for employee dogs. To be considered for employment, all applicants must meet, at a minimum, the following requirements: Must have prior dog care experience and be comfortable and confident handling dogs. Must be able to remain physically active and mentally alert throughout a shift. Must be able to easily lift at least 50 pounds. (About the weight of a medium sized dog) Must be able to maintain a positive attitude, both to customers and teammates. Must be comfortable cleaning any number of gross things, from vomit to diarrhea. Must be available for evening shifts, especially on the weekend. And above all else, must love dogs! Please be aware that working with dogs, as with all animals, can be a lot of fun, but is often hard work. Working in dog care may be the ideal job for true dog lovers, but is not recommended for those with only a mild or fleeting interest in dogs. Dogs can and will be frustrating, gross, loud, defiant, annoying, and even dangerous. Please bear this in mind when considering any animal care position.
