Job Description
Must be available to work part-time between the hours of 7am-6pm. Weekend shifts will be required. Approximately 18-32 hours per week depending on the candidate. We are seeking hardworking canine team members who will bring a positive mindset and professional attitude to the working environment. Primary job duties include daily cleaning of the shelter, sanitizing of animal enclosures, animal handling and animal enrichment. With time, employees may also learn basic medical care, adoption counseling, and customer service. Canine care is physically demanding and this position requires someone who is confident handling large dogs, enjoys a busy workday, and is not afraid to get their hands dirty! We need motivated people who like to be constantly on the move, are meticulous with their cleaning, and are dedicated to providing exercise and enrichment for the animals. We have approximately 50-55 dogs in our care -- if you are looking for a stress free and laid-back job, this is not it. If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding job, please apply! Requirements H.S. Diploma or equivalent required Initiative to work with minimal supervision and direction Maturity, good judgment, and reliability Passion for animal welfare, including knowledge of basic animal care and the importance of responsible pet ownership Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills Ability to treat people and animals with respect and contribute to effective teamwork Preferred Skills Experience caring for dogs in a professional setting Willingness to learn basic medical care including administering vaccines Excellent people skills and ability to handle difficult conversations with a professional and positive attitude Physical Requirements / Work Environment Physical ability to move quickly, be on your feet throughout an entire workday, and safely handle large, strong animals Employees may be exposed to injury, disease, and infection from the animals they attend Aspects of the job will be emotionally and mentally demanding Work environment is loud, and employees must work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Must submit a resume and availability to be considered.
