Part-time General Description:

Aquamoon is seeking a passionate, hardworking, and reliable individual to support the Live Exhibits operation at the Cabela's retail locations in Rogers and Owatonna MN. Performs live exhibit maintenance for aquariums. Ensures high quality service is delivered to our clients and high quality of care is provided to the aquariums in our care. Approximate % of time:

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

60%: Specialized aquarium cleaning involving entrance into exhibits with SCUBA or tending a diver. 10%: Performs husbandry services, filter operation and exhibit maintenance tasks for aquariums and their inhabitants. Including, but not limited to, feedings, health observations, water quality monitoring, filter maintenance, and exhibit cleaning. Responsible for aquascaping and general aesthetics of exhibits. 10%: Performs preventative maintenance/repairs on live exhibit filtration. 10%: Responsible for the hygiene of areas surrounding aquariums and filtration. 10%: Responsible for communication and record keeping related to the animal care operation.

Requirements:

Strong candidates must have a passion for aquatic animals and aquarium science. Aquamoon values employees that have a strong work ethic, dedication to animal care, and a willingness to learn. These are the most important aspects of the job! Must have reliable transportation and communication device (phone and ability to send/receive email). Travel between multiple work locations is required. Must have good hearing, visual acuity, and be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferences:

Education:

B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related field with course-work in zoology, aquatic biology and chemistry preferred however we will consider candidates without a degree or a degree in progress.

Experience:

One year in a retail aquarium store, hatchery or public aquarium preferred however we will consider candidates without this experience who have a strong desire and aptitude to learn. Valid Open Water dive certification. Will consider candidates who are not currently dive certified, but who are willing to get certified shortly after being hired. Aptitude in science and art/design.
