Pet Care Specialist

Position Summary Gateway Getaway Pets is looking for a dependable, energetic, and animal-loving Pet Care Specialist to join our growing team. This role supports all areas of our facility, including dog boarding, daycare, enrichment play, indoor pool activities, bathing services, feeding routines, cleaning, and customer care. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, enjoys being active throughout the day, and truly loves caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. Responsibilities Dog Care & Supervision Supervise dogs during daycare, group play, and boarding activities Monitor dog behavior and ensure safe interactions between pets Recognize signs of stress, illness, or behavioral concerns and report them immediately Provide enrichment activities, exercise, and individual attention to dogs Maintain a clean, safe, and fun environment for all pets Boarding Responsibilities Feed dogs according to individual instructions and medication schedules Clean kennels, bedding, bowls, and common areas Ensure pets are comfortable, secure, and receiving proper care during their stay Accurately document feeding, medications, potty breaks, and behavior notes Daycare & Play Services Engage dogs in supervised indoor and outdoor play sessions Assist with dog introductions and group management Help maintain structure and safety in daycare groups Encourage positive social behavior and enrichment activities Indoor Pool & Splash Services Assist with dog swim sessions and water play activities Monitor dogs during pool use to ensure safety and comfort Help clean and maintain pool areas and equipment Dry dogs and assist with post-swim cleanup and bathing Customer Service Greet pet parents in a friendly and professional manner Assist with check-ins, check-outs, and answering customer questions Communicate updates about pets clearly and positively Help create a welcoming experience for clients and their pets Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Sweep, mop, sanitize, and maintain all facility areas Follow cleaning and safety protocols at all times Assist with laundry, waste disposal, and organization of supplies Help maintain a professional appearance throughout the facility Qualifications Must love dogs and feel comfortable working around large groups of pets Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time Able to lift up to 50 pounds Strong teamwork and communication skills Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented Ability to remain calm in fast-paced or stressful situations Previous animal care experience preferred but not required Weekend and holiday availability may be required Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is positive, hardworking, patient, and passionate about animal care. $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
