Job Title:
Animal Grounds Care & Tour Guide Darby Acres Farm & Darby Safari •Charlotte, NC Part Time / 10-25 Hours per week Full Time / 30-35 Hours per week Weekdays & Weekends •

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintain animal habitats by cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing exhibits daily to ensure animal health and safety. Duties involve removing waste, sanitizing surfaces, scrubbing, using disinfectants and must be comfortable and prepared to meet the demands of working both indoors and outdoors, during all seasons, and in ALL weather conditions (NORTH
CAROLINA
HEAT, COLD, RAIN, SNOW, etc.) Responsibilities include but not limited to: Clean, sanitize, disinfect, and maintain animal suites, yards, outdoor runs, and grounds General facility cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the grounds and animal buildings including but not limited to mopping, washing animal dishes and laundry Daily observation and monitoring of animals for changes in health and behavior Interacting with (both speaking too and clearly listening too team member & Guests) and providing excellent customer service to guests on educational tours and birthday parties Provide care and attention to our animal family in a professional, humane, and compassionate manner Providing daily care, feeding, fresh water, and appropriate bedding for animals Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Comfortable and prepared to work with all breeds, temperaments, and sizes of
FARM AND EXOTIC
animals Agree to work weekends, flexible hours, including evening, weekends and holidays as needed. Comfortable and prepared to meet the demands of working both indoors and outdoors, during all seasons, and in ALL weather conditions (HEAT, COLD, RAIN, SNOW, etc.) Comfortable and eager to meet the demands of working a very active job that requires standing, walking, running, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, and lifting 50 pounds unassisted, throughout most of the time on the job. A valid driver's license & reliable mode of transportation to commute between the farm and the safari as needed to care for the animals. 18 years or older due to the possible hazards of this job.
Pay:
$14 AFTER trial period. All prospective employees must complete 4 trial days, paid at NC minimum wage (currently $7.25), to demonstrate performance and comfort in this specific role prior to being considered as a new probationary hire. There is a 3 month probationary period for all prospective employees. Apply online. No phone calls.
Animal Care Team Member & Tour Guide:
A dependable, responsible, organized and focused self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent time management skills to work independently and multi - task and prioritize to complete daily activities according to work schedule while clearly communicating with a dedicated team to give the best care to our animals and property also with the ability to manage a group of people, of all ages, and deliver excellent customer service while keeping the animals and guest safe. Must be able to deliver animal facts as well as safety rules with a loud voice that will carry to all guests during the tour while also helping the guests to be engaged and entertained. Must be able to work with and manage children and guests of all ages to ensure the safety of both the guests and animals. •
